Japanese beef with onions
Thinly sliced beef with three kinds of onion, ginger, chilli and soy sauce. Serve with white rice.

Ingredients
- 600 g thin-cut beef steaks
- 1 yellow onion
- 1 red onion
- A piece of leek
- 2 garlic cloves
- 2 tomatoes
- 1 red chilli
- A piece of fresh ginger
- 1½ tbsp sesame oil
- 75 ml Kikkoman soy sauce
- 25 ml regular dark soy sauce
- Salt
- Pepper
- Oil for frying
Method
- Cut the thin beef steaks into pieces about 5 cm wide.
- Slice the onions into strips and slice the green part of the leek.
- Crush the garlic cloves and cut the tomatoes into wedges.
- Trim and deseed the chilli, then cut it into thin strips. Cut the ginger into matchsticks.
- Fry the beef in oil until it starts to brown.
- Remove the beef. Add the onions, leek and garlic to the pan and fry until golden, then return the beef to the pan.
- Add the chilli, ginger, both soy sauces and the sesame oil. Simmer over a low heat for a couple of minutes.
- Add the tomatoes and simmer for another couple of minutes.
- Season with salt and pepper. Serve with white rice.
